About ToolFlint

ToolFlint is a collection of 1268 free tools for everyday file and text jobs, built on one rule: your files should never have to leave your computer to be compressed, converted or merged.

Why we built it

Almost every popular "free online tool" works the same way: you upload a file to someone's server, wait in a queue, get a watermarked result, and hit a daily limit designed to sell you a subscription. Modern browsers no longer need that. WebAssembly, the Canvas API and the File API let the same processing run on your own device, faster than a round-trip to a server and with nothing to leak. We package well-tested open-source libraries (pdf-lib, PDF.js, libheif, fflate and others) into simple one-purpose pages.

How the site is funded

The site is free and will stay free. It is supported by unobtrusive advertising and an optional Pro plan for people who need very large batches, an API or ad-free use. We never sell data, and because files are processed locally there is no file data to sell.

Accuracy and maintenance

Every tool page lists the date it was last reviewed. Bugs are fixed in the open on our changelog. If a tool produces a wrong result, tell us and we will reproduce and fix it.
