Static codes that never expire
Many QR generators create a short redirect link that they control, then charge a subscription to keep it alive; when you stop paying, printed codes die. This tool encodes your data directly into the QR code. There is no redirect, no tracking and nothing to expire. The trade-off is that the content cannot be changed after printing, so double-check the URL.
PNG or SVG?
PNG is a bitmap: pick 512 px for screens and 1024–2048 px for posters. SVG is vector and scales to any size without blur, which is what print shops and designers want; it also opens in Illustrator, Figma and Inkscape.
Error correction and contrast
QR codes carry redundancy so they still scan when partly damaged or covered. Level M (15%) suits most uses; choose H (30%) if you plan to place a logo over the centre or print small. Keep strong contrast: dark foreground on light background scans best; light-on-dark or low-contrast colour pairs fail on many phones. Never remove the quiet zone (white border): scanners need it.
Wi-Fi QR codes
A Wi-Fi code uses the format WIFI:T:WPA;S:name;P:password;;. Modern iPhones and Android phones join the network when they scan it, which is handy for guests, cafés and offices. The password is stored in the code, so only share it with people who should have it.
How much data fits?
Up to about 2,900 alphanumeric characters at level L, less at higher error-correction levels. Shorter content produces a simpler, more scannable code; use a short URL where you can.
